Biden’s Afghanistan policy becomes a Senate race issue

All four GOP candidates for Senate denounced President Joe Biden and his handling of the Afghanistan withdrawal.

Then-President-elect Joe Biden (VIA BIDEN CAMPAIGN)

Senate candidate Congressman Mo Brooks, R-Alabama, called on President Joe Biden to do the “honorable thing” and resign as president of the United States. If Biden refuses to do so, then Brooks is calling on Vice President Kamala Harris to initiate 25th Amendment procedures to remove Joe Biden as president of the United States.

Brooks is not the only Senate candidate commenting on the disturbing handling of the U.S. withdrawal from Afghanistan. Former BCA President and CEO Katie Britt denounced Biden’s performance as commander-in-chief as “gross incompetence.”

“Republicans, Independents and Democrats alike should be united in denouncing Joe Biden’s total failure of leadership,” Britt said. “This isn’t a partisan issue, however, we ultimately know that Nancy Pelosi and Chuck Schumer will treat it as one to the detriment of our country.”

“Joe Biden has displayed gross incompetence and an inability to effectively lead our nation as commander-in-chief,” Britt continued. “He has shown that he can’t protect us overseas. He can’t protect us at our southern border. And he can’t protect us in our communities.”

Former U.S. Ambassador to Slovenia and Senate candidate Lynda Blanchard also wants to impeach Biden.

“As Ambassador, I saw Marines guarding our embassy every day. Their service is something I never took for granted, and it’s why today’s casualties are so difficult for me to hear,” Blanchard said in a statement. “Our thoughts and prayers are with our injured, our fallen heroes and their families, who support them.”

“Our enemies never sleep,” Blanchard said. “This is why we must have strong leadership like we had under President Trump. Joe Biden has the title but certainly does NOT have the skills to protect us from our enemies. The Afghan disaster is the sad result of Biden’s ineptitude. It is time for Congress to act now. We must #Impeach Joe Biden.”

Senate candidate businesswoman Jessica Fair Taylor also favors impeaching Biden.

Taylor said in a statement: “Where is that coward we call president?! 12 US service members have been killed today.  I am praying for their family and friends and that our leaders find a spine and go after these terrorist bastards immediately.”

Brooks is calling on Congress to investigate whether Biden should be impeached pursuant to Article 2, Section 4 of the U.S. Constitution for the commission of “treason, bribery, or other high crimes and misdemeanors,” if Harris fails to remove Biden — the oldest president in American history.

“President Joe Biden has proven himself to be a complete and total fiasco,” Brooks wrote in a statement. “The horror of dead American military personnel giving their lives in defense of a botched Afghanistan withdrawal is Joe Biden’s pinnacle of incompetence. As such, President Biden should, in the name of honor, resign as President of the United States. America needs a President who shows strength and competence in the face of dictatorial geopolitical adversaries. Time and time again, President Biden has shown the strength of a marshmallow and the intellectual capacity and judgment of a gnat. America, and the free world, simply cannot afford the risks of such a vacuous man in the office of President of the United States.”

“Should President Biden decline to do the honorable thing and resign, Vice President Harris should initiate efforts to remove President Biden pursuant to the 25th Amendment to the Constitution,” Brooks said. “There was a time when Joe Biden had a keen mind and was capable of weighing myriad facts to reach sound judgments. Unfortunately, those days are long gone. Joe Biden’s mental capacity has significantly eroded and President Biden simply lacks the mental capacity needed to be an effective leader of the free world.”

Brooks added: “Should Vice President Harris refuse to act on her 25th Amendment removal duties, Congress must initiate an impeachment investigation to determine whether President Biden should be impeached for ‘treason, bribery, or other high crimes and misdemeanors.'”

“President Joe Biden had an obligation to safely and securely remove American assets and citizens from Afghanistan,” Brooks said. “Instead, Biden left the Taliban and terrorist entities with inordinate control over American lives, American military equipment, and American military personnel, thereby putting them all at risk. For emphasis, Biden armed the Taliban and other terrorist organizations, all enemies of the United States, with the latest and best military technology and equipment America has to offer. President Biden’s failures have caused an humanitarian crises and the heaviest loss of American life in Afghanistan in a decade. President Biden has failed as Commander-In-Chief. President Biden is unable to meet the challenges of a President of the United States. He is mentally unfit to hold the Presidency. In a recent news conference, Biden said he bears responsibility for what has unfolded. I agree. As such, the honorable thing for Biden to do is resign. Failing that, Vice President should invoke the 25th Amendment and remove President Biden from office. Failing that, Congress should initiate an impeachment investigation and impeach President Biden if the investigation confirms that President Biden’s misfeasance and malfeasance in office are as bad as they appear to be.”

“U.S. Constitution Article 3, Section 3 defines treason as ‘adhering to [America’s] enemies, giving them aid and comfort,’” Brooks said. “It appears President Biden aided and abetted the transfer of advanced American weaponry to the Taliban and other terrorist entities, all of whom have proven themselves to be enemies of the United States of America, thereby giving America’s enemies ‘aid and comfort.'”

Congressman Barry Moore, R-Alabama, is also calling for Biden to resign.

Recent polling shows that 76 percent of Americans disapprove of Biden’s Afghanistan policy — and that was before a dozen service members were killed at the Kabul Airport Thursday.

The Republican primary is May 24, 2022. Brandaun Dean is running as a Democrat.
