Alabama gubernatorial candidate Linda Blanchard has received the endorsement of prominent anti-abortion activist and head of the Christian Pro-Life Council, James Henderson.

Henderson, a former pastor, gave the endorsement on his radio program last Friday, describing Blanchard as “a proven pro-life, family-oriented candidate.”

“I’m pleased to endorse Lindy Blanchard for Governor because she is the strongest candidate and will serve Alabama best,” Henderson said in a statement. “She’s not only the best candidate for jobs and economic development but she is a proven pro-life, family-oriented candidate, and I strongly support her.”

Blanchard officially switched races in December, having begun her campaign previously as a candidate for U.S. Senate. According to the Wall Street Journal, former U.S. President Donald Trump met with Blanchard and discussed endorsing her campaign if she pulled out of the U.S. Senate race and ran against incumbent Alabama Gov. Kay Ivey.

Blanchard previously served as U.S. ambassador to Slovenia during the Trump administration.

The Republican primaries are scheduled for May, 24.
