Leadership Montgomery’s Legacy Class XLI Group 3, in partnership with the YMCA of Greater Montgomery, announced the MGM Reel Movement, a social media contest highlighting the positive stories of Montgomery, Alabama.

The initiative invites young people and community members to create and share engaging social media reels, showcasing why they love Montgomery and what makes it a great place to live.

From inspiring stories of YMCA beginnings to creative perspectives of pay-it-forward movements, neighborhood service projects, and more, contestants are invited to capture the spirit of Montgomery as they flex their creative muscles through the reel creation process.

“Montgomery’s young people are already telling brilliant stories on social media, and we are meeting them there to partner with that energy and celebrate the good things happening right here in Montgomery, Alabama,” said Group Captain Christie Aitken.

How to Get Involved

Businesses, community leaders, and organizations can support the initiative through sponsorship opportunities, contest participation, and shares on social media.

Contestants may enter the competition following online contest guidelines through Tuesday, April 1, 2025. Entries are eligible for cash prizes, and prize winner announcements will be made on the group’s Facebook and Instagram pages.

AJ Hernandez, president and CEO of the YMCA of Greater Montgomery, shared, “The true value of the YMCA lies in transforming lives, not just our treadmills, pools, or programs. We provide healthy food to families, support for isolated seniors, and safe spaces for kids to learn and grow. This partnership with Leadership Montgomery enhances our efforts while spreading positive news throughout our community.”
