State Sen. Greg Albritton, a Republican lawmaker known for his fiscal conservatism and long-standing commitment to public service, has announced his bid for re-election to Alabama’s 22nd Senate District. Albritton, who has represented the district since 2014, said he is running to continue his work on responsible governance, economic development, and improving the quality of life for residents in Baldwin, Escambia, and Washington counties.
A seasoned legislator with over two decades of experience, Albritton previously served in the Alabama House of Representatives from 2002 to 2006. In the Senate, he chairs the powerful Finance and Taxation – General Fund Committee, where he has played a central role in crafting the state’s budget. Under his leadership, the General Fund Appropriation has grown to $3.7 billion for the current fiscal year. Albritton has said his priority is ensuring that Alabama’s financial resources are managed efficiently and effectively.
Throughout his tenure, Albritton has championed infrastructure development across his district, helping to secure funding for broadband expansion and critical water and sewer improvements. He has also built a reputation for accessibility and local engagement. A longtime resident of Atmore, he is deeply rooted in the community and often attends civic events and meets with constituents to address local concerns. Supporters say his hands-on approach and understanding of rural needs have been vital to advancing policies that benefit families and small businesses alike.
“I am honored to have had the opportunity to serve the people of District 22,” Albritton said. “Together, we have made significant strides in improving our communities and managing our state’s resources wisely. I look forward to continuing this work and building a brighter future for Alabama.”
Albritton’s district covers all of Escambia and Washington counties and parts of Baldwin and Mobile counties. In addition to his legislative duties, he is a practicing attorney and a retired U.S. Navy officer. He and his wife, Deborah, have six children and twenty-two grandchildren.
