The Alabama National Guard announced Casey Rogers as its new deputy director.

The Alabama National Guard has said they are proud to announce the selection of Casey Rogers as its new deputy director of External Affairs and Strategic Communication.

Rogers, previously the External Affairs Director for Gov. Kay Ivey, will join the ALNG team Wednesday, June 4, 2025, with a primary goal of fostering collaboration between the state’s military department and civilian leaders at the federal, state, local and even international levels.

“It has been the honor of a lifetime serving Governor Kay Ivey across our state and nation,” she said. “My love for the people of Alabama has only grown with each new opportunity and I look forward to continuing to serve the administration in this new capacity. As Governor Ivey so often says, ‘our best is yet to come.’ I am grateful for the opportunity and eager to contribute to the heroes who call the Alabama National Guard home.”

Maj. Gen. David Pritchett, the adjutant general of the ALNG, announced the selection Tuesday, citing Rogers’s history of building strong partnerships as a driving factor in the decision.

“One of the priorities of this organization is ensuring we have the best, brightest, most driven, and most capable people in all the right positions,” he said. “Casey is that person. She’s been described as ‘an underestimated connector of people’ and that’s exactly what we’re after. A military is only as good as its people and we are truly blessed in Alabama to have incredible people in uniform surrounded by strong, supportive, principled people whom they serve. Connecting the great people of our Guard with the great leaders at every level of our nation to fight the same fight is necessary to ensure we are ready and equipped for the rapidly evolving threats and challenges of our time.”

While leading external affairs for the Alabama Governor’s Office, Rogers served as Ivey’s primary federal and defense liaison and assisted in policy development, legislative relations, stakeholder affairs and strategic communication.

Rogers also worked alongside the ALNG to expand its over 30-year military-to-military partnership with Romania to a whole-of-government cooperation. This expansion kicked off in 2024 through an education exchange between Auburn University’s College of Agriculture and the University of Agronomic Sciences and Veterinary Medicine of Bucharest with additional planning engagements underway for further government sectors.

Rogers is a Leadership Alabama Initiative Class VII graduate; has represented the state of Alabama as a Staff Academy of Governmental Excellence Fellow with the Council of State Governments; and has previously worked in policy, legislative and communication roles for the Alabama Farm Bureau, former U.S. Rep. Martha Roby and Pioneer Electric Cooperative. She holds dual degrees from the University of Alabama.

Rogers is also a longtime member of the Guard Family; her father, Steve Rogers, served in the ALNG from 1970 to 1991.

The Alabama National Guard is a joint-service organization comprised of approximately 14,000 Soldiers, Airmen and Civilians. More than 80 percent of Guardsmen serve part-time, stepping out of civilian careers to don a uniform in times of crisis to support the state and defend the nation at home and abroad. The ALNG comprises units of nearly 100 specialties in 57 communities around the state.
