Norman Crow announces candidacy for Alabama House District 63

He is seeking to fill the seat that will be decided in a special election, with the date to be set by the governor.

Norman Crow

Tuscaloosa City Councilor and longtime community leader Norman Crow officially announced on Thursday his candidacy for House District 63 in the Alabama Legislature.

“As a City Councilor and as a businessman, I’ve always put people first and Tuscaloosa first — and I’ll take that same mindset to Montgomery. This district deserves an experienced representative who listens, leads, and delivers results,” Crow said.

A long-time businessman and former Tuscaloosa City Board of Education member, Crow says he brings a strong record of public service and private sector experience to the race. He is seeking to fill the seat that will be decided in a special election, with the date to be set by the Governor.

“I know what it takes to run a business — to meet a payroll, create jobs, and grow opportunity,” Crow said. “I’ve seen firsthand how strong businesses strengthen families and communities. Those same principles — accountability, service, and results — have guided my work on the City Council and will shape how I represent the people of District 63 in Montgomery.”

A native of Tuscaloosa, Crow graduated from the University of Alabama in 1990 with an accounting degree. He began his career in the energy sector, holding leadership roles with Southern Natural Gas, Tenneco Energy, Duke Energy, Reliant Energy and Innovative Energy Services. He later owned and operated DT Freight, a local transportation business, and now serves as a licensed real estate agent with Hamner Real Estate.

Crow shared his deep ties to the Tuscaloosa community and long record of civic leadership. He has served as:

  • Chairman of the Board, Boys and Girls Club of West Alabama
  • Board Chairman, United Way of West Alabama
  • Chairman, West Alabama Chamber of Commerce (2015)
  • Board Member, Business Council of Alabama
  • Chairman, Tuscaloosa County Economic Development Authority
  • Board Member, Alabama Commission on Higher Education
  • Member, Alabama Workforce Council
  • Member, Tuscaloosa City Schools Board (2013–2017)
  • Leadership Alabama graduate (Class XXXIII)

Crow and his wife, Keeshan, have three children: Norman, Madeleine and Meredith. They are members of Trinity Presbyterian Church in Tuscaloosa.
