Opinion | Tuberville’s “inner city rats” comments reveal who’s really keeping our cities down

Many Americans are waking up to the way D.C. and the media have rigged the system—but it’s clear Tuberville never will.

Just when you think no one could be that clueless, Tommy Tuberville opens his mouth and proves us all wrong. His recent “inner city rats” comments don’t just confirm he’s running on ignorance—they show he’s missing the real issue entirely.

Yes, there’s a crisis in our inner cities: generational poverty that traps families for decades. But it’s not because of the people living there—it’s because of the policies cooked up in Washington, D.C., and the garbage peddled by the media and entertainment industry. And let’s not kid ourselves: those same D.C. elites and media powerbrokers are the ones propping up Tuberville. Coincidence? Not a chance.

Let’s be clear about how we got here. For decades, failed social programs from D.C. have pushed fathers out of homes, stripped schools of discipline, and starved kids of real education or any sense of values. Meanwhile, the media and entertainment giants—owned by the same investment titans who profit off private prisons, like BlackRock, State Street, and Vanguard—romanticize violence, drugs, and promiscuity. This isn’t some random accident; it’s a business model built on keeping people poor, uneducated, and desperate.

It’s also no coincidence that the federal government bends to these same players, ensuring policies that cement the cycle of poverty and hopelessness in our inner cities.

The tragedy is that most people stuck in this system know exactly what’s wrong, but they can’t break free. They see the game being played, but the deck is stacked against them.

We need real leadership—someone who can stand up to D.C. and the media, not parrot their talking points. A true people’s governor could start by changing teacher certification requirements to allow veterans to teach. Veterans bring discipline, values, and life experience. They could show kids how to think for themselves, spot the lies the entertainment industry feeds them, and build a life rooted in honor and purpose.

Many Americans are waking up to the way D.C. and the media have rigged the system—but it’s clear Tuberville never will. He’s too busy playing the fool for the same establishment he claims to oppose.

Now you know why the establishment and media are so desperate to keep Tuberville in the race. They need a useful idiot—and he’s more than happy to oblige.
