The Electric Cooperatives of Alabama Political Action Committee, the political arm of the Alabama Rural Electric Association of Cooperatives announced Tuesday its endorsement of U.S. Senator Tommy Tuberville for governor of Alabama.

The endorsement was unanimously approved by the PAC’s board of directors, a group of leaders from Alabama’s electric cooperatives focused on supporting rural communities and the state’s energy industry.

“In the U.S. Senate, Tuberville has worked to fight burdensome regulations, support critical infrastructure investments, and protect the energy security and economic strength of our state,” said Karl Rayborn, CEO of AREA. “We are confident he will continue to champion rural Alabama and common-sense energy policies as governor, and we are proud to back him.”

As a sitting U.S. senator, Tuberville “has a track record of prioritizing issues that attract industry, create jobs, and secure long-term prosperity,” the organization said.

“Coach knows Alabama’s future depends on strong energy infrastructure. He gets that meeting growing demand means investing in our grid, cutting red tape, and building the foundation for jobs and growth,” said Sean Strickler, VP of External Affairs at AREA. “He has the vision — and the guts — to continue the good work being done in our state.”

This endorsement represents the collective support of Alabama’s electric cooperatives and underscores AREA’s commitment to strengthening rural communities and advancing progress, the group said.
