The Alabama Farmers Federation on Tuesday announced its endorsements of Senator April Weaver for Senate District 14, which covers portions of Bibb, Chilton and Shelby counties; Representative Chip Brown for House District 105, which encompasses much of Mobile County; and Representative Matthew Hammett for House District 92, which encompasses all of Covington County and portions of Coffee and Escambia counties.

“April Weaver has been easy to work with because she understands the needs of the farmers and constituents of her district,” said John Deloach, president of the Shelby County Farmers Federation. “She has worked hard to represent us well and will continue to do so.”

Prior to serving in the Senate, Weaver spent ten years in the House of Representatives and was the first woman to chair the House Health Committee. Following her time there, she was appointed by President Trump to serve as the Regional IV director of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services.

“It is always an honor to be endorsed by any organization but especially by the Alabama Farmers Federation,” said Weaver. “We share the same work ethic and conservative values reflective of District 14, and I look forward to continuing to represent this district with unwavering support.”

Art Sessions, president of the Mobile County Farmers Federation, said of Chip Brown, “Rep. Chip Brown has a proven record of conservative leadership in the Alabama House of Representatives. He will continue to represent our farmers and all his constituents of House District 105 well in Montgomery.”

Brown is a business owner, realtor and entrepreneur. He is active in his community as former chairman of the Make-A-Wish Foundation of Alabama and as a coach of multiple youth sports teams. In the House of Representatives, he serves as chairman of the Committee on Ports and Waterways.

“I am proud to receive the endorsement of the farmers of Mobile County and the state,” said Brown. “They are hard-working conservatives, and I am proud to take their voices to Montgomery to the Legislature to be heard.”

Hammett serves on the Agriculture and Forestry, County and Municipal Government, and Urban and Rural Development committees in the House of Representatives.

“I am excited to receive the endorsement of the Farmers Federation,” said Hammett. “They work hard to help improve this county and our state, and I look forward to working with them to continue to do the same.”

The Alabama Farmers Federation is the state’s largest farm organization with more than 365,000 members. It uses a grassroots approach to select candidates, relying on Alabama FarmPAC endorsements from county Farmers Federation boards of directors for local elections.
