The Alabama Forestry Association announced last Friday the promotion of Anna Morgan Skipper to director of external affairs.
Skipper has been serving as the grassroots coordinator with AFA since 2021. In that position, she plays a pivotal role in building a network of advocates within the forestry community around the state as well as building relationships between the forestry community and public officials, the Association shared.
“Anna Morgan has been instrumental in helping to create one of the most effective grassroots and advocacy campaigns in Alabama,” according to Tom Saunders, general counsel of the Alabama Forestry Association. “Her intuition and ability to not only understand the issues but also effectively communicate AFA’s positions has led to her immediate success in the arena of public policy.”
Skipper grew up in Clarke County where the forest industry plays a major role in the local economy and earned her Bachelor of Arts in Communication and Information Sciences from the University of Alabama.
“Anna Morgan has made a tremendous contribution to the association during her tenure here at AFA,” said Chris Isaacson, AFA president and CEO. “Her unique blend of charm, intelligence, and determination combined with an unrivaled work ethic has made her an incredibly effective advocate for Alabama’s forestry community.”
As director of external affairs, Skipper will continue to work with AFA general counsel, Tom Saunders, to manage the legislative and political affairs programs of the Alabama Forestry Association.
Skipper currently resides in Montgomery and is married to Edward Skipper, who is a forester with Harrigan Lumber Company in Monroeville.
