U.S. Representative Barry Moore, R-Alabama, announced his campaign for U.S. Senate on Tuesday, vowing to stand with President Donald Trump against “the Washington swamp, the RINOs and the socialists and communists running the Democrat Party.”
“I’m running for Senate because the people of Alabama deserve a Trump conservative and a working man who will defend their freedoms,” Moore said. “As the first elected official in the country to endorse President Trump, I will have his back and defend the MAGA agenda in the Senate, just like I have as a member of the Freedom Caucus in the House of Representatives. We have a lot to do in Washington to help President Trump get our country back on track, and my record shows I’ll never clock out when there is work to be done. It’s time to fight and advance the America First agenda.”
Moore said that, if elected, he would “work night and day to secure the border, deport illegal immigrants, cut taxes, stop the woke insanity, and defend our Christian values and constitutional liberties.”
“I learned growing up on a farm in Coffee County that what makes this country great isn’t Washington elites, Wall Street billionaires, lifelong bureaucrats, or self-serving politicians. It’s the hardworking families of Alabama—and that’s who I will answer to and work for,” Moore said.
The congressman highlighted his legislative record, saying he has fought for “military families, cutting taxes on tips, overtime, and Social Security, defending our 2nd Amendment freedoms, preventing the indoctrination of our kids with the Democrat trans agenda, protecting our unborn children, and eliminating government waste.”
“As the owner of a waste removal company, I know how to take out the trash in Washington, and that’s exactly what I’ll do in the U.S. Senate,” Moore added.
Moore will officially kick off his campaign Friday at an event in DeKalb County, where his wife, Heather, is from.
“This campaign isn’t about me – it’s about you: your family, your freedoms, and the future of this great country. Too many politicians try to make Alabama more like Washington. I think it’s time to make Washington a little more like Alabama,” Moore said.
Born and raised in Coffee County, Moore is a Christian, husband, father, and small-business owner who served in the Alabama National Guard Reserves. In August 2015, at Ladd-Peebles Stadium in Mobile, he became the first elected official in the country to endorse Trump for president.
Moore attended Auburn University, where he enlisted in the Alabama National Guard Reserves and met Heather. After college, the couple founded BMI, Inc., a waste removal and demolition company, with one truck. Over two decades later, the company continues to grow.
First elected to the U.S. House of Representatives in 2020, Moore is a member of the House Freedom Caucus. He has been rated the most conservative member in Alabama by CPAC and named the state’s most effective legislator by the Center for Legislative Excellence. In Congress, he has opposed “Biden’s lawless Justice Department, the invasion at our border and the Radical Left’s social agenda.”
Moore and Heather have four children, two grandchildren, and two dogs. He still lives in Coffee County.
