Finally, someone decided to ask the Epstein victims.
Wednesday in D.C., nine of the more than 100 people who have credibly claimed to be victims of Jeffrey Epstein and the child sex ring he allegedly operated stood behind a lectern, the U.S. Capitol Building in the background, and promised to compile their own list of Epstein clients—naming the names of the predators who sexually abused them.
Finally, we get to this.
Honestly, I have no idea why it took so long. Why no one who has been clamoring for “the real story” never sought out these victims.
But now that we’ve arrived at this point, it sure is interesting to see who actually wants to protect children and who is more interested in protecting themselves and their friends from consequences.
There is no doubt at this point that Donald Trump’s name is all over those mysteriously missing Epstein files, and it’s highly likely that he will be named repeatedly by the victims. I expect Republicans to do absolutely nothing in response, because they have demonstrated religiously that they lack the courage to hold Trump accountable for anything.
Prominent Democrats are likely among those names as well, and former President Bill Clinton’s name was tossed around at the press conference on Wednesday.
Allow me to speak for all sane libs: Roast him.
If Clinton, or any other Democrat, participated in this sick abuse of vulnerable minors, put them in the general population in an Alabama prison. And leave them. Because while I find that the policy ideas and morals of most Democrats do more closely align with mine, I ain’t married to any of these people. Lock ‘em up. I’ll find more, better politicians and sleep just fine.
You see how easy that is?
Republican Thomas Massie has done it, and he’s allegedly rallied support for a measure that would force the Justice Department to make the Epstein files public.
Opposing him? His fellow Republicans, including House Speaker Mike Johnson—a wormy little guy who has gone out of his way to deny access to the records and protect Trump. Trump also is, of course, opposing Massie and dismissing the entire exercise, calling it a “hoax” on Wednesday and saying that it will never be enough.
He was referring to the DOJ’s agreed release of more than 30,000 documents in the Epstein file. The problem, though, was that almost all of it was previously public documents and that none of the important documents—like a client list—were in the release.
The Trump White House has also been actively pressuring lawmakers to vote against Massie’s petition, as has Johnson and Republican House leadership. In a closed-door session among Republicans, Johnson urged members to vote against Massie’s petition and not allow it to move forward.
Which is very weird, because all any of us have heard about for the past few years is the deep concern Republicans have for our children. They tell us constantly about their desires to protect our children.
Protect them from books. From kids who are different. From pronouns. From Black history.
You know, it’s strange that Republicans can get so worked up over things that are never actually a threat to our kids, and yet remain so passive about the actual threats.
Nothing on the guns. Nothing on the lack of healthcare. Nothing on the poverty. Nothing on the crushing cost of college. Nothing on insane rent prices. And nothing at all—in fact actually working on the wrong side—on holding influential people accountable for sexually abusing kids.
I mean, you’ve got more than 100 eyewitnesses. They experienced the abuse. They have named names and know details.
Massie’s petition would do nothing more than make the Epstein files in possession of the DOJ public records. It would open up the files and allow us all to finally see the names of those behind this horrific, serial abuse.
And yet, while every Democrat in Congress is on board, the petition is still two votes shy. That puts our Alabama congresspeople in an interesting position. Well, not Reps. Shomari Figures and Terri Sewell. We know where they stand, because standing up for the victims wasn’t hard.
But Alabama’s House Republicans …?
Marjorie Taylor Greene, Nancy Mace and Lauren Boebert have stepped up. No, for real. They, along with Massie, are the only Republicans to vote in favor of releasing the actual files and exposing the truth to sunlight.
But not a single Alabama Republican. After all that posturing on protecting kids.
Even with the victims literally standing in front of them, willing to tell them what happened and who was responsible, still nothing.
Shameful.
