The Alabama Farmers Federation announced Wednesday its endorsement of Amy Dozier Minton for Senate District 10, which covers all or portions of Etowah, Cherokee and DeKalb counties.
“Amy Minton has proven her conservative values through her work with the local and state Republican parties,” said Donald Sewell, president of the Etowah County Farmers Federation. “We are confident she will serve us well in Montgomery in the Alabama Senate.”
DeKalb County Farmers Federation President Clint McElmoyl echoed Sewell’s support.
“Amy Minton is a hard worker and knows the importance of agriculture in our district,” he said. “She will be a strong voice for agriculture and others in this district.”
Minton received her master’s degree from the University of Alabama at Birmingham. She retired from a career in pharmaceutical sales with Bristol-Myers Squibb.
Minton serves as vice chair of the Republican Party of Etowah County and represents congressional seat 7 of District 10 on the Republican State Executive Committee. She was appointed to the Alabama Public Library Services Board by Governor Kay Ivey and is a member of the Etowah County Library Board.
“I am greatly honored to receive the endorsement of the Alabama Farmers Federation,” said Minton. “We share the same conservative ideology, and I look forward to working with them to strengthen and improve District 10.”
Minton and her husband, Dr. Maury Minton, have two adult children and reside in Rainbow City. They attend MeadowBrook Church in Gadsden.
The Alabama Farmers Federation is the state’s largest farm organization with more than 365,000 members. It uses a grassroots approach to select candidates, relying on Alabama FarmPAC endorsements from county Farmers Federation boards of directors for local elections.
