The Alabama Forestry Association on Wednesday announced its endorsement of Senate Republican Majority Leader Steve Livingston for Alabama Senate District 8 and House Majority Leader Scott Stadthagen for Alabama House District 9.
“The fact that both these men have been chosen by their colleagues to head their respective caucuses says a great deal about their character and leadership skills,” said AFA President and CEO Chris Isaacson. “We have always worked well with them, and they not only understand our industry and issues but have gone above and beyond to assist in promoting our cause as they recognize the value it brings to rural Alabama. Both Scott and Steve work tirelessly to direct their majorities to the benefit of the state and we appreciate their efforts and look forward to having their skillset for the next four years.”
Livingston has held the Senate District 8 seat since 2014. Senate District 8 includes Jackson County and parts of Madison and DeKalb County. He was elected as the Senate majority leader in 2023. Livingston serves as the vice chair for the Local Legislation Committee and the Rules Committee and as a member of several other Senate Committees.
“I’m honored to receive the endorsement of the Alabama Forestry Association,” said Leader Livingston. “Their support reflects our shared commitment to protecting Alabama’s natural resources, supporting rural communities, and promoting responsible forestry practices. I’m grateful for their trust and proud to stand with them as they work to make Alabama a more conservative state.”
House District 9 covers part of Morgan County. Stadthagen is running for reelection for his third term. He has served the House as the Republican majority leader since 2022 and serves on many committees in the House, such as Fiscal Responsibility, Rule, and State Government.
“I am truly honored and deeply grateful to receive the endorsement of the Alabama Forestry Association,” said Leader Stadthagen. “The forestry industry is a cornerstone of Alabama’s economy, and its impact on both our jobs and environment cannot be overstated. I have long been committed to advocating for policies that support sustainable forestry practices, protect our natural resources, and promote the growth of this vital industry. I look forward to continuing to work alongside the Forestry Association to ensure that Alabama remains a leader in responsible land management and a thriving, sustainable forestry sector.”
Livingston and Stadthagen are both seeking reelection to the Alabama Legislature. The primary election will be held on Tuesday, May 19, 2026.
