U.S. Sen. Cory Booker, D-NJ, will be headlining a town hall in Birmingham, Alabama on Saturday, November 8. The event will be moderated by U.S. Rep. Terri Sewell, D-AL, and will also feature special remarks from former U.S. Sen. Doug Jones.

The town hall is being organized by the Jefferson County Democratic Party and Blueprint Alabama, a political action committee formed earlier this year with the goal of dramatically increasing Democratic political power in Alabama. The organizers are advertising the event as a “conversation centered on courage, organizing, and the collective power of communities to create lasting change.”

In an official statement, Sen. Booker expressed excitement about visiting the state and engaging with Alabamians at Saturday’s town hall.

“I’m excited to return to Alabama, because the people of Alabama are no strangers to confronting the kind of moral moment America is in right now,” Booker said. “In every part of our country, Americans are facing the same kinds of hardships: struggling to get by, disgusted by the corruption in our political system, and yearning for bold change.”

“That’s why I’m looking forward to joining Alabamians for a conversation about the challenges we’re facing, the importance of organizing everywhere to create change in our communities, and how we stand up together to chart a better path forward for our country,” the senator added.

Leaders from the Jefferson County Democratic Party and Blueprint Alabama echoed Booker’s excitement, touting the event as part of an important effort to rally Democratic voices in the state.

“Senator Booker represents the kind of moral leadership our country needs right now — hopeful, grounded, and focused on lifting people up instead of tearing them down,” said Josh Coleman, Chair of the Jefferson County Democratic Party. “Having him in conversation with Congresswoman Sewell, makes this event one of the most powerful gatherings of Democratic voices Alabama has seen in years. It’s a reminder that progress starts here, with us, when we come together and organize for the future we believe in.”

“This town hall is about more than just one conversation, it’s about building momentum for a movement grounded in empathy, equity, and action,” added Caroline Self, Co-Founder of Blueprint Alabama. “We’re honored to welcome Senator Booker and Congresswoman Sewell, for what promises to be a truly inspiring day.”

According to the event’s organizers, doors will open at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday with the town hall beginning at 1:30 p.m. The location has yet to be announced, but will be provided 24 hours before the event to attendees who RSVP.
