The Business Council of Alabama announced Monday that Mark Drew of Protective Life Corporation (Protective) has been elected to serve as the organization’s 2026 chairman of the board of directors.
The BCA Board voted for Drew at its annual meeting on November 18 in Birmingham. He will officially assume the role of chairman in January 2026.
“Mark is a respected leader in Alabama’s business community, and his legal expertise and business perspective will be invaluable as we continue to advocate for policies that strengthen our state’s economy and workforce,” said Helena Duncan, president and CEO of the BCA. “His commitment to collaboration, innovation, and responsible growth reflects the very best of Alabama business, and I look forward to partnering with him as he leads our board in 2026.”
Drew serves as executive vice president and chief legal officer at Protective, a long-standing BCA member company headquartered in Birmingham. In addition to his professional responsibilities, he has been an active participant in BCA initiatives and a strong supporter of pro-growth, pro-job policies that help businesses of all sizes compete and thrive, BCA shared.
“I am honored to serve as BCA’s chairman for 2026,” Drew said. “BCA plays a critical role in making sure Alabama remains a place where businesses can invest, grow, and create opportunity. I’m grateful for the confidence of the board and look forward to working with Helena, the BCA team, and our members to advance an agenda that supports employers, strengthens our existing workforce, creates more jobs for all Alabama citizens, and keeps our state competitive.”
As chairman, Drew will preside over meetings of the BCA Board of Directors and Executive Committee and help guide the organization’s strategic direction, advocacy priorities and member engagement efforts throughout 2026.
