December campaign finance reports released this week for Alabama’s three attorney general candidates show more than $130,000 of political action committee donations collectively.

Katherine Robertson, chief counsel to Attorney General Steve Marshall, ended December with $83,512.94 in total contributions, receiving more than half of the total PAC donations for the race last month, at $67,500. Robertson received $5,000 contributions from five political action committees associated with the Fine Geddie government relations firm: FGAPAC, FAXPAC, CANPAC, BIPAC and EDPAC.

Robertson also received $2,500 from the United PAC, $5,000 from the Petroleum and Convenience Marketers of Alabama PAC and $10,000 from ABC Merit PAC, the Associated Builders and Contractors Alabama Chapter.

Early December, Robertson filed a major contribution report detailing a $25,000 contribution from FarmPAC, the political action committee associated with the Alabama Farmers Federation.

She began December with a balance of $1,485,034.83 and ended the month with a total balance of $1,449,636.44. Robertson’s largest expenditure for the month was $36,156.09 to Ascent Media, LLC for advertising.

Jay Mitchell, a former Alabama Supreme Court justice, received $139,500 in contributions during the month of December. Four Tuscaloosa-based PACs, Leadership PAC, Cash PAC, CMG PAC and ET PAC, donated $54,000 of his overall contributions.

A few businesses in the state also contributed to Mitchell’s campaign in December. The Alabama Hospital Association donated $2,000, Legacy, LLC of Birmingham donated $5,000 and Caddell Construction Co., LLC of Montgomery donated $10,000.
