Will Boyd condemns Tuberville’s “shoot back” remark after Minneapolis ICE killing

Democratic candidate Will Boyd called Senator Tommy Tuberville’s suggestion that ICE agents “shoot back” after the recent Minneapolis killing “extremely concerning.”

Democratic gubernatorial candidate Will Boyd sharply criticized Senator Tommy Tuberville’s call for ICE agents to “shoot back” following his X post about the Minneapolis ICE shooting, calling the statement “extremely concerning” and “irresponsible.”

Boyd said cell phone video of the incident makes clear there was “no way Tuberville could know anything about Ms. Good’s motives,” accusing the senator of politicizing a tragic death for political gain. “It is absolutely shameful,” Boyd said, warning that Tuberville’s rhetoric “may well escalate violence between law enforcement officers and civilians.”

Boyd contrasted his approach with what he described as Tuberville’s “politics of division,” pledging that as governor he would “serve all Alabamians — regardless of their politics or beliefs.”

He said he would not “call anyone names or question their character unfairly,” while still promoting law and order and respecting the dignity of all citizens. Boyd added that honoring public safety and human life “are not competing values,” but responsibilities that must be held together by those seeking public office. The remarks come amid intense national debate over the circumstances surrounding the ICE shooting that killed Renee Nicole Good.
