Fairhope to celebrate Arbor Day on Feb. 21

City officials will honor local students and businesses February 21 during a community celebration featuring a giveaway of 14 tree species.

The City of Fairhope will host its annual Arbor Day Celebration on Saturday, February 21, at 10 a.m. at Coastal Alabama Community College.

The Arbor Day Awards Ceremony will take place under the live oak on Bancroft Street by the John Borom Science Building. During the ceremony, officials will recognize Arbor Day Poster Contest winners from J. Larry Newton School, Fairhope West Elementary and Fairhope East Elementary, along with the 2026 Beautification Award recipients. The Beautification Awards honor individuals and businesses for exceptional building design, renovations and environmental stewardship efforts.

After the ceremony, the Baldwin County Master Gardeners and the Dogwood Trail Maids will assist with the annual tree seedling giveaway, which will begin at about 10:30 a.m. and continue until noon.

Seedlings available this year include red maple, red buckeye, yellow poplar, Ashe magnolia, sweet bay magnolia, black gum, shortleaf pine, longleaf pine, loblolly pine, sycamore, sawtooth oak, swamp white oak, willow oak and post oak.
