Statement From Representative Craig Ford Regarding His Vote in Favor of House Bill 159

By Craig Ford

From the Office of House Minority Leader Craig Ford

“This bill is far from perfect, but it was the best the Republican Supermajority would give us, so I voted ‘yes’ to protect the jobs at the Gadsden Goodyear plant and let the people have the final say. I will always fight to protect our Goodyear employees. That is why I have introduced House Bill 304, which will provide $20 million for the Gadsden Goodyear plant and another $30 million for training. My bill shows how we can retain and create jobs without raiding the Education Trust Fund.”

Representative Ford is a Democrat from Gadsden.  He has served in the Alabama House of Representatives since 2000. In 2010, Representative Ford was elected Minority Leader of the state House of Representatives by the House Democratic Caucus.

Craig Ford is the owner of Ford Insurance and the Gadsden Messenger. He represented Etowah County in the Alabama House of Representatives for 18 years.
