Governor Kay Ivey joined twenty-five Republican governors on Wednesday in a show of support for former President Donald Trump’s immigration policies. In a joint statement, the governors endorsed Trump’s approach to border security and pledged to collaborate with his potential administration to address illegal immigration.

“As Republican governors, we stand united in support of President Donald Trump’s unwavering commitment to make America safe again by addressing the illegal immigration crisis and deporting illegal immigrants who pose a threat to our communities and national security,” the statement read.

The governors sharply criticized President Joe Biden’s administration, accusing it of failing to secure the nation’s borders. “When the Biden Administration refused to secure our borders and uphold the rule of law, it was Republican governors who took action. We mobilized state resources, including law enforcement and National Guard units, to protect Americans from disastrous open border policies and prevent illegal immigration from overwhelming our country,” the statement continued.

The group lauded Trump’s leadership, expressing optimism about his potential return to the White House. “We are proud to welcome President Trump back to the White House, a leader who has consistently put America first. His leadership is exactly what our nation needs to restore law and order at the border, and we are eager to work alongside his Administration to tackle the critical challenges facing our nation.”

The governors pledged their full support for Trump’s plans to deport individuals they described as threats to public safety and national security. “Republican governors remain fully committed to supporting the Trump Administration’s efforts to deport dangerous criminals, gang members, and terrorists who are in this country illegally. We understand the direct threat these criminal illegal immigrants pose to public safety and our national security, and we will do everything in our power to assist in removing them from our communities,” the statement said.

They also emphasized their readiness to use state resources in partnership with federal efforts. “Together, we will continue to defend the American people, uphold the rule of law and ensure our nation remains safe and secure for future generations. We stand ready to utilize every tool at our disposal—whether through state law enforcement or the National Guard—to support President Trump in this vital mission. The time for action is now. Together, we will make America safe again.”

The letter was spearheaded by Governor Henry McMaster of South Carolina. Other signatories include Governor Kay Ivey of Alabama, Governor Mike Dunleavy of Alaska, Governor Sarah Sanders of Arkansas, Governor Ron DeSantis of Florida, Governor Brian Kemp of Georgia, Governor Brad Little of Idaho, Governor Eric Holcomb of Indiana, Governor Kim Reynolds of Iowa, Governor Jeff Landry of Louisiana, Governor Tate Reeves of Mississippi, Governor Mike Parson of Missouri, Governor Greg Gianforte of Montana, Governor Jim Pillen of Nebraska, Governor Joe Lombardo of Nevada, Governor Chris Sununu of New Hampshire, Governor Doug Burgum of North Dakota, Governor Kevin Stitt of Oklahoma, Governor Mike DeWine of Ohio, Governor Kristi Noem of South Dakota, Governor Bill Lee of Tennessee, Governor Greg Abbott of Texas, Governor Spencer Cox of Utah, Governor Glenn Youngkin of Virginia, Governor Jim Justice of West Virginia, and Governor Mark Gordon of Wyoming.
