Former U.S. Senator Doug Jones announced Tuesday his endorsement of State Representative Barbara Drummond in her campaign for Mayor of Mobile. Senator Jones, known for his work as U.S. Attorney prosecuting the 1963 16th Street Baptist Church bombing case, cited Rep. Drummond’s unparalleled experience and deep commitment to the people of Mobile.
“Barbara Drummond possesses a truly unique and invaluable understanding of the challenges and opportunities facing Mobile, gained through decades of dedicated service at the city, county, and state levels,” said former Sen. Jones.
“From her time as a journalist connecting with the community, to her executive leadership roles managing city and county departments, to her effective work in the state legislature, Rep. Drummond has consistently demonstrated integrity, a collaborative spirit, and a deep commitment to improving the lives of all Mobilians. She knows how to bring people together to find practical solutions and deliver results. Mobile needs her experienced, unifying leadership, and I am proud to offer her my enthusiastic endorsement,” Jones shared.
Rep. Barbara Drummond responded to Jones’ endorsement warmly. “Receiving the endorsement of Senator Doug Jones is a profound honor,” said Rep. Drummond.
“Senator Jones has spent his career fighting for justice, seeking common ground, and working tirelessly for the people of Alabama. His support underscores the core message of our campaign: bringing Mobile together to tackle our challenges and build a future where every person and every neighborhood can thrive. Like Senator Jones, I believe in listening, finding solutions, and delivering results, and I am incredibly grateful for his confidence in my vision for Mobile,” Drummond enthused.
State Representative Barbara Drummond is a lifelong Mobilian with decades of experience serving her community. Prior to her election to the Alabama House of Representatives in 2014, she served as executive director of Administrative Services and Community Affairs for the City of Mobile and as Public Affairs and Community Services director for Mobile County.
