Innovate Alabama said they are proud to welcome Fast Company and Inc. contributor, Abigail Bassett, to moderate an exclusive panel at Sloss Tech “exploring Alabama’s emerging venture landscape and groundbreaking startup funding initiatives.”

The session, The Next Generation of Startup Funding: Inside Innovate Alabama’s New Venture Programs, will focus on Alabama’s new era of innovation and economic growth through strategic startup investment, the organization shared.

“Alabama is stepping into a transformative period of innovation leadership. This conversation will feature the visionary leaders behind Innovate Alabama’s groundbreaking initiatives who are strengthening the state’s startup ecosystem and fueling sustainable economic growth. Attendees will learn about Innovate Alabama’s strategy for investing in entrepreneurs and establishing the foundation for venture success,” Innovate Alabama said.

Based in Los Angeles, Bassett is a seasoned freelance journalist and regular Fast Company and Inc. contributor with prior experience working for CNN, TechCrunch and The Verge. Bassett has moderated high-profile panels on cutting-edge topics, including Fast Company’s “Faster, safer, smarter: How AI and other innovations are securing the movement of money.

“We’re thrilled to have Inc. and Fast Company’s Abigail Bassett moderating this critical conversation about Alabama’s venture innovation landscape at Sloss Tech,” said Deon Gordon, president and CEO of TechBirmingham. “This represents exactly the kind of national attention our state’s thriving tech ecosystem deserves. Alabama has quietly been building something remarkable– from Birmingham’s growing startup community to the strategic initiatives coming out of Innovate Alabama. Having a journalist of Bassett’s caliber facilitate this discussion will help showcase the depth of innovation happening right here in our backyard and demonstrate why Alabama is becoming a serious player in the national venture capital conversation.”

The organization shared that this panel represents a significant moment for Alabama’s innovation ecosystem, with national media covering Alabama’s strategic venture initiatives firsthand, interviewing key leaders from Innovate Alabama, exploring the state’s emerging role in the national startup landscape and documenting the economic transformation taking place across Alabama.

“We’re looking forward to sharing more about these new venture programs with the incredible community of innovators, builders and thought leaders at Sloss Tech,” said Mary Beth Grant, program director of capital access at Innovate Alabama. “This work is about more than just funding. It’s about embedding venture creation into the fabric of our state and making it easier for entrepreneurs to build and grow in Alabama.”
