The qualifying period for the special election in Alabama House District 63 officially closed at 5 p.m. on Monday. At the close of qualifying, Tuscaloosa City Councilman Norman Crow was the only individual to qualify as a Republican candidate in the race.
As a result, Crow is now the official Alabama Republican Party nominee for House District 63.
“We are thrilled to have such an experienced candidate with solid conservative credentials representing the Republican Party in this race,” said ALGOP Communications Director Jeannie Burniston. “Councilman Crow has demonstrated a strong commitment to his community and to the values we stand for as a Party. We are confident he will serve the people of Tuscaloosa County with distinction in the Alabama Legislature.”
House District 63 covers portions of Tuscaloosa County. The seat became vacant earlier this month following the appointment of former Representative Cynthia Almond as president of the Alabama Public Service Commission by Gov. Kay Ivey.
The special general election will be on Tuesday, Jan. 13, 2026.
