Katherine Robertson wins ALFA endorsement for AG campaign

Robertson secured a major endorsement from the Alabama Farmers Federation, building on previous high-profile backing from conservative organizations and law enforcement.

Alabama Attorney General hopeful Katherine Robertson secured a major endorsement for her campaign from the Alabama Farmers Federation on Tuesday.

Robertson’s campaign celebrated ALFA’s show of support in a Wednesday press release, arguing conservative standpoints and support for Alabama’s farmers helped the candidate receive her endorsement from ALFA’s political action committee, FarmPAC.

“ALFA’s backing signals strong confidence in Robertson’s ability to champion policies that safeguard farmers, small businesses, and traditional Alabama values against overreaching government regulations and progressive agendas,” the campaign wrote.

“As the product of an eighth generation farming family, I am deeply honored and humbled by ALFA’s endorsement. I understand the vital role agriculture plays not only in our economy but in our culture as well,” Robertson said.

“This endorsement is a testament to my dedication to fighting for the rule of law and ensuring that Alabama’s farmers, families, and small businesses are protected from bureaucratic burdens,” she continued. “Farmers are my people, and together, we will build a stronger, more prosperous Alabama.”

Alfa’s 2026 election endorsements followed FarmPAC’s Montgomery meeting for 2026 election candidates. According to ALFA, over two dozen political candidates from each of Alabama’s 67 counties attended the event, vying for endorsements.

“The 2026 election cycle will be a turning point for state government,” said ALFA President Jimmy Parnell. “With more than 160 races on the ballot and several key open seats, the decisions voters make in May and November will impact Alabama’s future for years to come. We’re thankful to support a strong slate of conservative leaders and look forward to working with them to move Alabama forward.”

Robertson is a Dallas County native and graduate of Auburn University and the University of Alabama School of Law.

She has served as chief counsel to Alabama Attorney General Steve Marshall since 2017 and first joined the Attorney General’s Office in 2016 as a senior advisor to former Attorney General Luther Strange.

Robertson previously worked for the Alabama Policy Institute, a conservative think tank, from 2014 to 2016, becoming the organization’s vice president. She also served as a clerk and legislative counsel on the U.S. Senate Judiciary Committee from 2009 to 2011 under former U.S. Senator Jeff Sessions, R-Alabama.

“This endorsement caps off a month of numerous high-profile endorsements for Robertson from conservative organizations as well as multiple law enforcement leaders from across the state,” Robertson’s campaign wrote of ALFA’s support for her AG bid.

In addition to ALFA, Robertson’s campaign has been backed by the Republican Attorneys General Association, Dale County Sheriff Mason Bynum, Marshall County Sheriff Phil Sims, Calera Police Chief David Hyche, Pell City Police Chief Clay Morris, Bibb County Sheriff Jody Wade and Henry County Sheriff Eric Blankenship.

Robertson is currently facing up against former Alabama Supreme Court Justice Jay Mitchell and Blount County District Attorney Pamela Casey in the Republican primary for AG.

Mitchell has received endorsements from the Alabama Grocers Association, Alabama Rural Electric Association of Cooperatives, the Business Council of Alabama and the Alabama Trucking Association.

Casey, meanwhile, announced last week that her campaign had received endorsements from over 50 state district attorneys, police chiefs and law enforcement officers.

Robertson’s ALFA endorsement follows recent criticisms from Mitchell, who late last month criticized the candidate for a $1.1 million donation from nonprofit, First Principles Action Inc., a group founded by former executive director of the Republican Attorneys General Association Peter Bisbee, as well as contributions from real estate investor and philanthropist Hugh Culverhouse Jr. and the Poarch Band of Creek Indians.

Among their other endorsements announced Tuesday, ALFA also backed Marshall’s run for the U.S. Senate seat currently held by Senator Tommy Tuberville, R-Alabama.
