House Speaker Nathaniel Ledbetter, R-Rainsville, on Tuesday appointed Representative Chad Robertson, R-Heflin, to the House Judiciary Committee. The position was previously held by Cynthia Almond, who resigned in June to become president of the Alabama Public Service Commission.
“Alabama is a state that takes the rule of law seriously, and the House Judiciary Committee plays an integral role in advancing policies that equip our courts to hold criminals accountable while also safeguarding the rights of law-abiding citizens,” Ledbetter said. “During his time in the House, Rep. Robertson has proven himself as a member who is capable of developing solutions to complex issues. I believe he will be a great addition to an already strong committee and look forward to working with him in this new capacity.”
Robertson was elected to the Alabama House of Representatives in 2022 and previously served as the executive director of the Cleburne County Chamber of Commerce. He holds positions on the Constitution, Campaigns and Elections Committee, Economic Development and Tourism Committee, Military and Veterans Affairs Committee, and the Joint Legislative Committee on Energy Policy.
“I am honored that Speaker Ledbetter has entrusted me to serve in this vitally important role,” Robertson said. “Simply put, every decision made by this committee has the power to protect communities, support law enforcement, and ensure Alabama remains a state where citizens can have full faith in our legal system. I look forward to getting to work and making a meaningful difference for the people of Alabama.”
Robertson’s appointment is effective immediately.
