The Alabama Civil Justice Reform Committee endorsed Justice Brad Mendheim for reelection to the Alabama Supreme Court on Monday, praising his conservative judicial philosophy and record of interpreting the law as written.
“I am honored to have the endorsement of the Alabama Civil Justice Reform Committee,” Mendheim said. “ACJRC has been a leader in promoting a fair and predictable legal system, and I appreciate their confidence in my commitment to apply the law as written and respect the proper role of the judiciary.”
Since 1985, ACJRC has represented the state’s business, agricultural, medical, manufacturing and small-business communities. The group said it has advanced civil justice reform and supported “a fair and balanced judiciary that promotes economic stability and growth across the state.”
Mendheim was appointed to the court by Governor Kay Ivey in 2018 and elected to a full term in 2020. He has nearly 25 years of judicial experience, including service as circuit judge of the 20th Judicial Circuit—encompassing Henry and Houston counties—and as district judge in Houston County. He has presided over hundreds of cases involving complex civil litigation and serious criminal matters.
“Alabama’s courts must remain grounded in the Constitution and free from judicial activism,” Mendheim said. “I will continue working to ensure our legal system is fair, balanced and faithful to the conservative principles that protect individual liberty and support opportunity across our state.”
