Senator Strange appoints former Chief Deputy as Chief of Staff

Many questions surround the appointment of Luther Strange as US Senator, but Strange hiring Kevin Turner as his Chief of Staff is an unseen turn of events.

Turner served as Strange’s Chief Deputy until allegations of dubious actions in the criminal investigation of former Speaker Mike Hubbard surfaced. During the heat of the inquiry, sources from both within and outside of the Attorney General’s Office confirmed that Turner was orchestrating a plot to remove chief prosecutor Matt Hart from the Lee County Grand Jury investigation.

Former State Parks Director: Vote “No” on Amendment 2

As a former State Parks director, nothing would have pleased me more than being able to vote for a constitutional amendment to protect State Park revenues from being raided by the politicians.

But I will vote “No” on Amendment 2 because it would do more harm than good. Under the guise of protecting State Park revenues, the politicians have embedded language in Amendment 2 that would allow privatization of Alabama’s most popular and profitable State Parks.

Byrne Says that Bipartisan Mental Health Bill is a Major Accomplishment

Wednesday, July 6, US Representative Bradley Byrne (R-Montrose) said that HR2646, the Helping Families in Mental Health Crisis Act, which passed the House on Wednesday marks the first reforms of our mental health programs in decades. Congressman Byrne is a co-sponsor of the legislation.

Congressman Byrne said: “Instead of pushing new gun laws, I have always said the focus should be on the root causes of mass violence, like our broken mental health system. This bill does just that in a truly bipartisan way that unites Republicans and Democrats instead of driving us further apart.”
