National GOP tepidly embraces Moore

The recent embracement of Republican Senate candidate Roy Moore by key Republicans has been met with a backlash from some of the party’s most influential members.

It began on Monday when President Donald Trump broke his silence on Moore and endorsed him outright in a tweet.

Previously, the president had a non-committal position on Moore and his recent allegations of sexual misconduct with teenagers as a man in his 30s.

Republican National Committee announces support for Moore after previously cutting ties

On Tuesday, December 5, 2917 The Republican National Committee announced that it was resuming its support for U.S. Senate candidate Roy Moore on Tuesday.

Alabama Republican Party Chairman Terry Lathan said in a statement regarding the RNC’s continued support for Moore.

“The Chairwoman of the Republican National Committee, Ronna McDaniel, has contacted us and confirmed that the RNC is transferring funds to the Alabama Republican Party for the Roy Moore campaign for the December 12 U.S. Senate election,” Lathan said. “We are grateful for the RNC’s partnership with the ALGOP in this race. We are also thankful for President Trump’s recent show of support in highlighting the major policy differences between the left-wing Democrat, Doug Jones, and the constitutional conservative, Republican Roy Moore.”

President Donald Trump gives full endorsement of Roy Moore

President Donald Trump went all in for the election of Republican Senate candidate Roy Moore to the U.S. Senate.

The president took to Twitter to announce his endorsement of Moore for the U.S. Senate.  The president followed that with a phone call to Moore from Air Force One where he expressed his enthusiastic support for Moore’s candidacy.

Trump called Moore a “fighter” and expressed his eagerness to have Moore fighting for his agenda in Washington. The president wrapped up the call with a “go get ’em, Roy!”

The ALGOP Steering Committee votes to continue supporting Roy Moore

After a week of speculation, the Alabama Republican Party Steering Committee reaffirmed its support for U.S. Senate nominee Roy Moore.

Alabama Republican Party Chairman Terry Lathan said in a statement regarding the U.S. Senate election: “On Wednesday evening, the Alabama Republican Party Steering Committee, comprised of 21 members, met to discuss the events and circumstances regarding the December 12 U.S. Senate race.  The ALGOP Steering Committee supports Judge Roy Moore as our nominee and trusts the voters as they make the ultimate decision in this crucial race.”

Reynolds “not happy” with the National Republican Senate Committee

Saturday, Alabama’s National Republican Committeeman Paul Reynolds told the Mid Alabama Republican Club, “I am not real happy with the NRSC at all.”

Reynolds said, “I represent the NRC, the National Republican Committee.” The Republican Governors nationwide are by and large a very good group. The NRCC, the National Republican Congressional Committee, “by and large they play ball with the NRC.”  “The NRSC [the National Republican Senate Committee] that is the Senators they don’t play ball with anybody. They act like they own everybody. The NRSC wants to tell us what we can say in our resolutions.”

RNC Says Alabamians Play “Essential Role” To Help Trump Win Florida

The Republican National Committee (RNC) says that efforts by Alabamians volunteering in Florida are essential for Donald Trump’s campaign in Florida.

The RNC National State Party Director, Matt Pinnell, wrote those comments in a memo to Joan Reynolds who Chairs the Mighty Alabama Strike Force (Florida).

Pinnell wrote, “First, let me thank you for agreeing to take on the additional Florida areas that we outlined during our recent conference call. Your state’s volunteer efforts are becoming more and more critical to a vital Trump win in Florida. In fact, RNC internals point to a major Alabama involvement in the Florida ground game being essential for that state’s victory on November 8.”

Lathan and Worley Present Differing Views on Hillary Clinton Email Scandal

Tuesday, July 5, both the Alabama Democratic Party and the Alabama Republican Party issued statements on the FBI report that was highly critical of former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton; but determined that she did nothing that she could be prosecuted for.

ALGOP Chair Lathan Speaks to Trussville Republican Women

Thursday, September 3, Alabama Republican Party Chairman Terry Lathan spoke to the Republican Women of Trussville about the 2016 elections, candidate qualifying, and running to be delegates to the Republican National Convention next year.

Lathan said that she had been chairman of the Alabama Republican Party only since February but has been a volunteer for the Republican Party for the last 38 years.  She is one of 8 women chairs in the country.

Thursday, August 20, US Senator Richard Shelby (R-Alabama) was at The Club in Birmingham, to speak to the Greater Birmingham Young Republicans at their annual summer luncheon.

Shelby began by praising Alabama Republican Party Chairman Terry Lathan: “She is determined to make the Republican Party Stronger, and more viable that it has ever been.”  Shelby told Lathan, “I am proud to work with you.”

Reynolds Addresses Shelby County Republican Women

Saturday, August 15, Alabama’s Republican National Committeeman Paul Reynolds spoke to the Republican Women of Shelby County at their regularly scheduled meeting in Pelham.

Vice-President Dawn Ray said that Paul Reynolds grew up on a peanut farm in Butler County. First got involved in Republican politics when he worked by Barry Goldwater’s Republican Presidential campaign in 1964. Reynolds has been a member of the Alabama Republican Executive Committee for 38 years, is in broadcast engineering and owns 97.7 FM. Reynolds presently his serving his second term on the Republican National Committee.
