A few weeks back my column illuminated the career and influence attained by our senior U.S. Senator Richard Shelby. In the column and in my book, “Six Decades of Alabama Political Stories,” I reference the fact that our current senior senator will be regarded as one of Alabama’s greatest U.S. Senators. I consider Lister Hill, John Sparkman, and Richard Shelby in that triumvirate. However, history more than likely will reveal that Shelby is eclipsing Hill and Sparkman in the annals of senatorial lore.

Moore supporters seek revenge against Sen. Shelby

A group of Judge Roy Moore’s supporters is planning to introduce a resolution to censure Alabama’s U.S. Sen. Richard Shelby because he publicly stated that he “couldn’t vote for Roy Moore,” as reported by Politico on Saturday.

It’s no small irony that a faction of the Alabama Republican Executive Committee is tarring Sen. Shelby with half-truths and lies just like The Washington Post is accused of doing with Judge Moore.

Nana Says the Almighty Instructed Him to Run for Senate as a Write In Candidate

On Friday, March 18, former Democratic candidate for US Senate Charles Nana announced that he is running for the US Senate as a write in candidate against incumbent Senator Richard Shelby (R) and Democratic Party Primary winner, Ron Crumpton.

Charles Nana attacked both Crumpton and Shelby in a Friday Facebook post, “The issues facing Alabamians and the nation today are too important to be limited to only two choices: one is morally and intellectually challenged and simply wants to smoke Marijuana, while the other is only interested in having $4500 dinners at the priciest restaurants in New York city.”
