State Senator Gerald Dial’s (R-Lineville) campaign received some welcome news when the political arm of the Alabama State Troopers Association recognized Sen. Dial for his support and endorsed the veteran State Senator in the June 3rd Republican Primary.

The Alabama State Trooper Association is comprised of current and retired sworn officers and Alabama Department of Public Safety employees.  The association has over 1,000 members. In addition to the endorsement, the group presented Senator Dial with the Alabama State Trooper Association Senator of the Year award.

Senator Dial said, “Being recognized and endorsed by over 1,000 men and women who dedicate their lives to the safety of our citizens is a tremendous honor.  I support those men and women because it’s the right thing to do, and because I have so much respect for them. It’s very humbling to receive this award and endorsement.”

Alabama State Trooper Association Executive Director Danny Hester said, “I grew up in Senator Dial’s district, so I have seen first-hand how strongly he supports not only our members, but also the citizens of District 13.”

The President of the Alabama State Trooper Association David W. Steward said, “It was an easy decision to endorse Sen. Dial’s re-election effort. He has long been a champion for our members, and we look forward to him continuing his great work in the Alabama Senate.”

Dial was also endorsed by Commander Danny Joyner and the Alabama Patriots recently.

In a statement Commander Joyner said, “The Alabama Patriots proudly endorse and support Senator Gerald Dial in his re-election campaign for the Alabama Senate. He is truly a Patriot and a man of honor and integrity and enjoys an impeccable reputation with all who know him.”  “Please give your Vote and support to Senator Dial and share this endorsement with all your contacts in his Senate district. Thank you.”

Sen. Gerald Dial represents District 13 in the Alabama State Senate, which includes all or parts of Chambers, Cherokee, Clay, Cleburne, Lee, and Randolph Counties.  Senator Dial was appointed Majority Whip by the Senate Majority Leader Jabo Waggoner.  Dial is Chairman of the Senate Local Legislation #1 Committee.

Senator Dial and his wife, Faye, live in Lineville.

Sen. Dial has already been endorsed by the Alabama Retail Association and the Business Council of Alabama.

Dial is being challenged in the June 3rd Republican Primary by Tim Sprayberry.

The winner of the Republican Primary will face Democratic challenger Darrell Turner in the November General Election.  Alabama Democrats are hoping to hold most of their seats in the Alabama Senate and pick up enough Republican seats to be able to block cloture in the Alabama Senate.  According to Alabama Senate rules, it takes a 3/5 super majority to end a filibuster in the Senate.
