The daughter of State Representative Allen Treadaway, R-Morris, was killed in an early Sunday morning two-vehicle accident.

According to media reports, 31-year-old Kelsey Treadaway was traveling on I-65 near Good Hope, Alabama, when her vehicle was struck from behind by another vehicle at approximately 3:00 a.m.  The accident is still under investigation.

Treadaway was the head volleyball coach at Mortimer Jordan High School.

“We mourn with the Treadaway family in the passing of our beloved PE teacher and [volleyball] coach, Kelsey Treadaway,” the high school said on Twitter. “Please pray for our students, faculty, admins, and community as we grieve this sudden loss.”

Many state government officials also reacted to the tragedy.

“Was sorry to hear of the sudden passing of the daughter of Rep. Allen Treadaway,” Alabama Gov. Kay Ivey said. “My thoughts & prayers are with their family, friends and the high school students she taught. I know she will be greatly missed.”

Allen Farley, R-McCalla, said. “We have been praying, and will continue to pray, for God’s Grace and Mercy for this wonderful family. It’s times like this that we are quickly reminded what is most important in our lives.”

“It broke my heart when I got the news this morning that Representative Allen Tredaway’s daughter, Kelsey, had been killed in an automobile accident early this morning,” state Rep. Koven L. Brown, R-Jacksonville, said. “Nothing is worse than getting that phone call in the middle of the night (we have been there) with the news you never want to hear. Prayers to Allen and Susan and the rest of their family for God to wrap his loving arms around them…”

“The @ALGOP family is broken hearted at the news that Rep. Allen Treadaway and his wife, Susan, have lost their beloved daughter, Kelsey, in a car accident,” Alabama Republican Party Chairman Terry Lathan said. “May they lean into their faith and God’s promises.”
