U.S. Senator Katie Britt, R-Alabama, announced Tuesday that she secured $128,000 for the city of Montevallo’s law enforcement.
The funding was appropriated in the fiscal year 2026 Commerce, Justice, Science, and Related Agencies Appropriations Act and will support technological upgrades and vehicle replacements.
“I’m proud to secure $128,000 for Montevallo’s law enforcement to purchase two new patrol vehicles,” Britt said in a written statement Tuesday.
“Our brave men and women in law enforcement deserve the best tools and technology available to serve and protect their communities,” Britt added. “These vehicles will help ensure officers are well-equipped and prepared to respond to any situation with confidence. I’m grateful for the opportunity to serve on the Appropriations Committee and bring Alabama taxpayer dollars back home to support the needs of our communities.”
The funding will go toward replacing aging vehicles in the department’s fleet, allowing for two new patrol cars. According to Britt’s office, the new vehicles will minimize maintenance needs for the department and increase the reliability of the city’s fleet.
Montevallo Police Chief Todd Burr described the funding as representing “a meaningful investment in officer safety, operational readiness, and the safety of our citizens.”
“This significant investment in public safety will enable the Montevallo Police Department to purchase and fully equip two new patrol vehicles with essential law enforcement equipment,” Burr said. “These vehicles will provide our officers with reliable, modern resources to serve and protect our community safely and effectively. We extend our sincere appreciation to Senator Katie Britt for her support of the City of Montevallo and our law enforcement officers, as well as her efforts to secure this important federal funding for our community.”
Montevallo Mayor Rusty Nix also thanked Britt on Tuesday for securing the funding.
“The City of Montevallo is committed to the safety of its citizens and to supporting our police department by ensuring that local law enforcement is provided with a dependable fleet of vehicles,” Nix said. “The awarding of this grant to our community will allow our city government to provide our law enforcement with not only two new vehicles but also that are technologically advanced.”
