Ben Harrison announces reelection campaign for House District 2

State Representative Ben Harrison officially announced Wednesday that he will seek reelection to the Alabama House of Representatives, “continuing his work on behalf of the citizens of District 2,” which includes parts of Lauderdale and Limestone Counties.

Harrison said that, since his election, he has built a strong record as one of Alabama’s most principled and effective conservative voices. He has consistently ranked as the most conservative member of the Alabama House, earning top marks from the National Federation of Independent Businesses, the Freedom Index, Club for Growth Foundation, and the American Conservative Union.

“It’s been one of the greatest honors of my life to represent the hardworking people of North Alabama in the State House,” Harrison said. “I believe North Alabama needs representatives who will stand strong for our conservative values, fight for working families, and protect our constitutional freedoms. When I first ran for State House four years ago, I promised to fight for limited government, lower taxes, and to defend the values that make our communities strong—and my voting record shows that commitment.”

Harrison shared that he has a proven record within the conservative movement, serving as a Republican on the County Commission from 2012 to 2020, where he said he was a consistent voice for fiscal responsibility. He was selected as a Donald Trump delegate to the Republican National Convention in 2020, and later served as an alternate delegate for Trump in 2024. A lifelong resident of Alabama, Harrison earned his engineering degree from Auburn University. He is married to Beth McGuire Harrison, and together they have four children and five grandchildren.

“As a father and grandfather, I believe our greatest responsibility is to protect the future for the next generation,” Harrison said. “I grew up on my family’s farm between Athens and Rogersville, where I learned the values of hard work, honesty, and integrity. I am not a career politician—I spent years in the private sector before starting my own small business. These experiences shaped my commitment to bringing common-sense, conservative solutions to Montgomery.”

Harrison is running for House District 2 in the May 19 Republican primary.

“I am asking the people of District 2 for the opportunity to continue to work for them. Together, we can keep Alabama strong, free, and true to the principles that make our state the best place to live, work, and raise a family,” Harrison concluded.
