Roy Moore cruises to a win over Strange

The voters of the Alabama Republican Party went to the polls and selected Roy Moore to be their nominee in the race for U.S. Senate.

The Washington elites led by Karl Rove, Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell, R-Ky., the Senate Leadership Fund, the U.S. Chamber of Commerce, the National Rifle Association, and the National Republican Senate Committee, all backed Strange.  The expensive outside lobbyists declared a media war on Moore.  Republicans voters received upwards of 50 mailers to their mailboxes.  TV and radio spots touting Strange and attacking Moore bombarded viewers and listeners for weeks.

Roy Moore discusses debate decision

Wednesday, September 13, 2017, a spokesperson for the Roy Moore campaign told The Alabama Political Reporter, “We have agreed to a debate. The details are being worked out.”

Earlier in the day in Mountain Brook, U.S. Senate candidate Roy Moore addressed accusations from the Luther Strange campaign that his decision to back out of participation in the Alabama Policy Institute debate was because he was afraid to face Sen. Luther Strange, R-Ala.

New poll shows Mo Brooks with early lead in Fifth Congressional District race

Tuesday, BamaCarry Inc. released the first public polling of the 2018 election cycle for Alabama’s 5th Congressional District. The poll purports to take a snapshot of where the race currently stands and examine how the negative attacks of the Senate campaign may affect both the 2017 Senate runoff and the 2018 congressional primary.

The poll was conducted by WT&S Consulting in partnership with (the Second Amendment rights group) BamaCarry Inc. The poll surveyed 863 self-identified Republican respondents from a random stratified selection of likely primary voters across the 5th Congressional District. The survey was conducted by phone between Aug. 28 and Aug. 31., and it has a margin of error of 3.34 percent.

Moore addresses Etowah County Republicans

Saturday, August 19, 2017, Senate Candidate Roy Moore (R) was in Rainbow City for a breakfast meeting with the Etowah County Republican Party.  A packed crowd was on hand to hear from the Etowah County native following his first place finish in the August 15 Republican Senate special election primary.

Judge Moore told his fellow Etowah County Republicans, “This is home.  This is where I was born and reared and where I will die.”

Republican candidates forum in Trussville

The last Republican candidate forum before the August 15th Special Primary was held on Sunday afternoon at the new Sheepdog Firearms facility on Deerfoot Parkway in Trussville.

Bryan Peeples, Dr. Randy Brinson, Congressman Mo Brooks, and Luther Strange participated.  The other candidates had previously scheduled commitments.

Sen. Luther Strange said that he was honored to take the seat of Jeff Sessions, whom he called a friend and a mentor.

Strange allies launch attacks on Roy Moore

Wednesday, August 2, 2017, the Senator Mitch McConnell (R-Kentucky) controlled National Republican Senate Leadership Committee (NRSLC) unleashed an ad attacking the ethics of Roy Moore (R) and his wife, Kayla. The ad was blasted as misleading by the Moore campaign.

Moore campaign manager Bill Armistead said, “Mitch McConnell has failed to provide the leadership in the Senate to implement President Trump’s agenda including repealing Obamacare.  Now his henchmen at the Senate Leadership Fund have failed to be truthful in their vicious attacks on Judge Roy Moore. Shame on them!”
