State Representative Paul DeMarco (R) from Homewood received two major conservative endorsements this week in his quest to represent Alabama’s Sixth District in the United States Congress.  On Thursday, June 12 the National Right to Life Committee endorsed Rep. DeMarco in his runoff campaign for Alabama’s Sixth Congressional District.  Earlier this week DeMarco also received an endorsement from the National Rifleman’s Association (NRA) Political Victory Fund.

In a letter to Rep. DeMarco, National Right to Life called him “an outspoken leader in the fight to protect innocent human life in Alabama.” National Right to Life is the nation’s oldest and largest pro-life organization.  The group praised Rep. DeMarco’s “commitment to strengthening a culture of life throughout the nation and in the U.S. Congress.”

Rep. DeMarco in a written statement said that he welcomed the support of a group that works so hard to promote legal protection to the most defenseless members of our society.  Rep. DeMarco said, “I am pro-life. I support a pro-life agenda and am proud to be endorsed by a group doing so much to promote the culture of life.” Rep. DeMarco says.

Rep. DeMarco also secured the endorsement of the National Rifle Association’s Political Victory Fund. The NRA is the largest, oldest, and most significant national organization focused on the protection of Second Amendment rights.

NRA-PFV Chairman Chris Cox said, “Paul has proven his determination to fight for gun owners and hunters in Alabama.  He shares the NRA’s commitment to stand strong against the Obama-Bloomberg gun control agenda in Washington. We urge all NRA members and supporters in Alabama’s 6thCongressional District to vote for Paul DeMarco on July 15th.”

DeMarco had previously received an A rating from the NRA during the primary.

Rep. DeMarco said, “It’s an honor to be supported by the National Rifle Association.  If elected, I’ll be able continue with my strong legislative track record on gun issues with resounding votes in favor of the Second Amendment in Washington. It’s vital that we send a congressman to DC who will protect not just the Second Amendment, but all of our conservative Alabama values.”

DeMarco will face off against Runoff opponent Gary Palmer on Thursday.  The influential Greater Birmingham Young Republicans in a statement said, “Please join us Thursday, June 19th for the political event of the summer – the Congressional District 6 Runoff Debate.”

Paul DeMarco had 32% of the votes cast in Alabama’s June 3rd Republican primary. Gary Palmer had 20% of the vote.  The other 48% of the vote was spread among five candidates.

Paul DeMarco is a three term member of the Alabama House of Representatives and an attorney.  Gary Palmer is the Co-founder and President of the Alabama Policy Institute (API).

The Republican runoff election is scheduled for July 15th.
