The city of Montgomery announced Monday that Lawrence Davis Jr. has been appointed the city’s new chief operating officer.
City officials said Davis will bring more than 25 years of public-sector leadership and operational expertise to Montgomery.
Before his appointment, Davis served as the city of Atlanta’s enterprise revenue chief, leading modernization efforts in financial operations, enterprise systems and revenue management. He also worked with the Georgia Department of Community Affairs, the Georgia Vocational Rehabilitation Agency and the city of East Point, where he served in several roles, including department director, division manager, paralegal and assistant to the mayor.
Davis’ work in Georgia earned him recognition for efficiency gains, modernization, revenue savings and debt recovery.
As Montgomery’s chief operating officer, Davis will work with city leadership to “enhance operational efficiency, strengthen collaboration, and support the delivery of high-quality services to Montgomery residents,” city officials said.
Davis will manage citywide operational functions, with a focus on improving government services, promoting transparency and supporting effective governance.
Montgomery Mayor Steven Reed praised Davis’ appointment in a statement.
“We are excited to welcome Lawrence Davis Jr. to the City of Montgomery’s executive leadership team,” Reed said. “Davis brings a strategic, people-centered approach that will help advance our priorities, strengthen City operations, and support excellence in public service.”
