Alabama Farmers Federation endorses Jerry Carl for Congress

The Federation cited Carl’s business background and past role on the House Appropriations Committee’s agriculture subcommittee.

Former U.S. Rep. Jerry Carl

The Alabama Farmers Federation announced Thursday its endorsement of businessman and former Congressman Jerry Carl for Alabama’s 1st Congressional District.

The district encompasses parts of Mobile and all of Baldwin, Coffee, Covington, Dale, Escambia, Geneva, Henry and Houston counties.

Carl attended Lake City Community College (now Florida Gateway College) before returning to Mobile to start a business. His career was in sales with various companies before starting Carl and Associates, a management group. He later founded Cricket and Butterfly LLC, a lumber and timber business.

Carl served in the U.S. House of Representatives from 2021 to 2025. During the 118th Congress, he served on the Committee on Appropriations as a member of the Subcommittee on Agriculture, Rural Development, Food and Drug Administration and Related Agencies. He previously served on the Mobile County Commission, where he was elected president by his peers.

“I am deeply honored to receive the endorsement of the Farmers Federation and Alabama’s outstanding farm community,” said Carl. “Our farmers represent the very backbone of this nation — men and women whose hard work and dedication sustain our way of life.”

Carl and his wife, Tina, have two children and three grandchildren.

The Alabama Farmers Federation is the state’s largest farm organization with more than 360,000 member families. It uses a grassroots approach to select candidates, relying on Alabama FarmPAC endorsements from county Federation boards of directors for local elections.
