Alabama Republican Party Chairman Bill Armistead announced that Republican National Committee Chairman Reince Priebus and U.S. Senator Ron Johnson (R) from Wisconsin will be in Birmingham on February 1 to speak at the Alabama Republican Party Winter Meeting.

Chairman Armistead released a written statement to announce the event, “Republicans from across Alabama will gather at the Birmingham Sheraton for our annual Winter Dinner. I am pleased to announce that my friend, Reince Priebus, Chairman of the Republican National Committee will be our Special Guest and we have named this year’s event the “Chairman’s Dinner” in his honor. Our Keynote Speaker is a close personal friend of Reince’s, a businessman turned statesman, a giant killer in the US Senate, and fellow Wisconsinite, U.S. Senator Ron Johnson!”  “We are truly blessed to have two great statesmen from Wisconsin to headline our Chairman’s Dinner – Reince Priebus AND U.S. Sen. Ron Johnson.“

Chairman Armistead said, “Sen. Johnson didn’t have a cakewalk to win his first political race. In fact, he defeated one of the most liberal and entrenched Democrats Senators in the United States, U.S. Sen. Russ Feingold.  What a change that has meant for Wisconsin and our country to have a rock solid conservative leader like Sen. Johnson rather than ultra-liberal Sen. Feingold.  Sen. Johnson brings to the Senate a passion for getting our country on the right track.  And, he is someone who rolls up his sleeves and goes to work no matter what the job.  He grew up in a family and in a place where one of the greatest compliments you could give a person was to say that he or she was a hard worker.”

Chairman Armistead said, “Reince was first elected Chairman of the RNC at their Winter Meeting in 2011 just a few weeks before I became Chairman of the Alabama Republican Party. It was also my honor and privilege to pledge my support to Reince in his re-election bid later this month. Alabama’s National Committeewoman, Vicki Drummond, and National Committeeman, Paul Reynolds, joined me in support of Reince.”  “I have had the opportunity to get to know Reince on a personal basis over the last two years and can tell you that he is a man of faith who is one of the most energetic and focused people that I have ever met.  He is such an inspiration to me and to others on the RNC as he continues to focus on the “real thing” and that is raising money and electing Republicans. He is truly a Super Star in my book.”

While Chairman Reince Priebus has come under attack from former Congressman J.C. Watts of Oklahoma, Chairman Armistead is having to fend off his own challenge from Birmingham attorney, Matt Fridy.  Fridy’s bid for the Chairmanship of the Alabama Republican Party is endorsed by Governor Robert Bentley (R), Lieutenant Governor Kay Ivey (R), Speaker Mike Hubbard (R), and most recently by Jefferson County Republican Party Chairman Chris Brown.

Chairman Armistead said, “I am excited that we are able to host “The Chairman’s Dinner” in just a few short weeks at the Birmingham Sheraton and am thankful that we have such outstanding special guests that will enlighten us on the state of the Party and Country.  If you have not already purchased your tickets, I encourage you to do so now as seats are going fast.”
