Gov. Kay Ivey announced a new round of appointments Thursday.

  • John Carroll to the Tuscaloosa County Civil Service Board
  • Soyan Jemison as Sumter County Coroner
  • Steven Brom, Toby Bennington, David Clark, Dennis stripling, Ellis Foster and Stephen Worley to the Southern Rail Commission
  • Joseph Breighner to the Professional Engineers and Land Surveyors Licensure Board
  • John Hoyle, Dennis Engle, Michael McLendon and Tiffany Bishop tot he STEM Council
  • Katie Kinney, Nick Moore, Chandra Scott and Cynthia McCarty to the Postsecondary Mathematics Task Force
  • Fred Major and Abigail Carter to the Computer Science Education Advisory Committee
  • Vicki Davis as 13th Judicial Circuit Judge in Mobile County

During each visit, Ivey emphasized the importance of literacy and celebrated student achievement.

Since 1972, the fourth Saturday in September has been designated as National Hunting and Fishing Day.

"That area is so important to our state and does not have four-lane access to the interstate," Ivey said.
