Workforce Secretary Greg Reed to participate in ribbon cutting for new Athens Career Center

State leaders will launch a new Career Center at Athens State University, providing North Alabama jobseekers and employers a full range of services.

Alabama Department of Workforce Secretary Greg Reed will join state Senator Arthur Orr and other area workforce development leaders on Thursday in North Alabama for a ribbon cutting to open a new Career Center at Athens State University.

The Career Center will be operated by the Workforce Pathways Division of the Alabama Department of Workforce and will offer a full range of services to both jobseekers and employers, including: resume assistance, job placement services, educational and vocational training assistance, employee pre-screening and more.

The ribbon cutting for the new Athens Career Center will take place January 8, 2026, at 11 a.m. at Chasteen Hall located at 161 North Clinton Street, Suite 106 in Athens, AL 35611.
