The city of Birmingham will host Coast Guard Information Day on Thursday, August 6, to connect local businesses with federal contracting opportunities through the U.S. Coast Guard.
The free event will take place from 9 to 11 a.m. at Boutwell Auditorium. Organizers expect hundreds of local business owners, entrepreneurs and vendors interested in doing business with the Coast Guard to attend.
Local officials said participants will receive “practical guidance on the federal procurement process, including how to register with SAM.gov, the federal government’s official vendor registration system, and the steps required to become eligible to compete for future Coast Guard contracts.”
Coast Guard procurement professionals and subject matter experts will discuss navigating the federal contracting process, registering with SAM.gov, becoming eligible to compete for Coast Guard procurement opportunities and accessing resources that support vendors throughout the contracting process. Representatives also will answer questions from attendees.
Birmingham Mayor Randall Woodfin said the event reflects the city’s commitment to economic development and local businesses.
“This partnership reflects our commitment to creating economic opportunity for Birmingham businesses,” Woodfin said. “When our local companies are equipped to compete for federal contracts, they can grow, create jobs and bring new investment back into our community. We want Birmingham businesses to know these opportunities exist and have the tools to pursue them.”
The event is open to all businesses interested in exploring contracting opportunities with the Coast Guard.
