U.S. Representative Dale Strong, R-Alabama, will host a Military Service and Academy Day on August 22 for high school students interested in attending a U.S. service academy.
“The fact that so many North Alabamians willingly answer the call to serve our nation in uniform speaks volumes of the patriotism held by our district’s youth,” Strong said. “It has been my honor to nominate over 150 young men and women to date to attend U.S. service academies and ensure students are prepared to take the next step in their path to leading the next generation of American servicemembers.”
Strong’s fourth annual Academy Day will take place Saturday, August 22, from 9 a.m. to noon at the Auburn University Research and Innovation Campus in Huntsville.
The event will include representatives from the U.S. Military Academy at West Point, U.S. Naval Academy, U.S. Air Force Academy, U.S. Coast Guard Academy and U.S. Merchant Marine Academy; military preparatory schools; and collegiate ROTC and Alabama National Guard programs.
To attend a military service academy, students must meet certain eligibility requirements and receive a nomination from a member of Congress, the vice president or the president. Students interested in receiving a nomination from Strong are encouraged to attend.
More information on the nomination process will be provided at the event and can be found here.
The Auburn University Research and Innovation Campus is located at 345 Voyager Way in Huntsville.
