Drive Electric Alabama and the Alabama Clean Fuels Coalition announced they are partnering with local EV enthusiasts to bring an interactive, hands-on EV showcase to Mobile and Millbrook this Saturday.
The showcase is set to include “an impressive lineup of electric vehicles all in one place — from powerful pickup trucks and sleek sports cars to stylish sedans and family-ready SUVs. Whether you’re seriously considering making the switch or just EV-curious, these events are designed for you,” Drive Electric Alabama shared in its press release.
Attendees will be able to talk directly with EV owners, ask questions and hear firsthand experiences about what it’s like to drive electric — cost savings, range, charging, maintenance and more.
“With gas prices rising sharply, more drivers are taking a serious look at electric vehicles,” said Michael Staley, president of the Alabama Clean Fuels Coalition and an EV owner. “EVs can dramatically cut fuel and maintenance costs, and there’s no better way to understand the benefits than by talking to people who drive them every day.”
Below are Saturday’s EV showcases:
- When: Saturday, May 16, 9 a.m.-2 p.m.
- Where: Village Green Park, 3160 Park Circle, Millbrook, Ala. 36054
- Cost: Free, as part of the fourth annual Millbrook Mayfest
- When: Saturday, May 16, 10 a.m.-2 p.m.
- Where: Greer’s Supermarket, 260 St. Louis Street, Mobile, Ala. 36602
- Cost: Free
“EV owners here in the Mobile area love the chance to meet people and share our experiences with driving electric every day,” said Dale Holden, a local leader in the Bay Area chapter of Drive Electric Alabama. “Every time I drive past a gas station, I understand how much more I save today than I did at this time last year. I encourage you to attend an EV showcase near you to see the variety of EVs on the road today and to talk to EV owners.”
EVs represent a significant economic benefit for Alabamians, including Mercedes-Benz in Tuscaloosa, Hyundai in Montgomery, Autocar in Pinson and New Flyer in Anniston building EVs.
In addition, the Alabama Department of Economic and Community Affairs, ADECA, coordinates a grant program designed to increase the number of public charging stations statewide to make EV ownership more convenient. ADECA also recently announced a new round of funding through the National Electric Vehicle Infrastructure, NEVI, Formula Program.
