“Meredith is an accomplished businesswoman and proud alumnus, and I am looking forward to  the many contributions she will make in the coming years,” said USA President Jo Bonner. “We  have one of the most supportive governing boards at any university in the nation, and Meredith  will be a wonderful addition to that dedicated group of individuals who give countless hours to  help South succeed.”

Hamilton is the daughter of John Mitchell, who serves the state as a member of the Alabama  Community System Board and other statewide organizations.

“I have a strong passion for education, as well as a deep commitment to supporting the growth  and success of our state’s universities, and I am grateful to Gov.
