Troy University shared Wednesday that “donors once again showed the strength of the Trojan spirit, setting a new record for generosity during the University’s eighth annual Giving Day.” More than $500,000 was raised in just 24 hours, making it the most successful Giving Day to date.

Centered around the theme One Day. One Purpose. One TROY., this year’s campaign united alumni, students, faculty, staff and friends from across America and even Germany in support of scholarships, academics, athletics and student programs. In total, $523,610 was gifted from 458 donors.

“To those who have given and support this wonderful place called TROY, I thank you. You have made a big difference, and that’s what we strive to do,” said Chancellor Dr. Jack Hawkins, Jr.

Donors were able to designate gifts for scholarships and academic departments in each of the University’s five colleges, ass well as to the Alumni Association, athletics and other university initiatives.

Contributions ranged from first-time donors to long-time supporters. Matching gifts were provided by Drs. Onick and Heather Lewis, Horn Beverage, Mr. Jerry Williams, Brian Smith (’07), Sound of the South Alumni Chapter and several anonymous donors.

Challenges were issued by the Troy University Alumni Association and Jason Bennett (’91).

“What makes Giving Day so special is the collective effort—it’s about Trojans everywhere giving back in whatever way they can,” said Sydney Owen, director of Annual Giving and Special Projects. “Each gift represents someone’s belief in our mission and their commitment to helping the next generation succeed.”
