Auburn University SAE Chapter adds 208 people to stem cell donor registry

Fraternity members joined a nationwide service effort to bolster cell therapy resources through a partnership that has facilitated more than 100 lifesaving transplants.

Sigma Alpha Epsilon Chapter at Auburn University

Members of Auburn University’s Sigma Alpha Epsilon chapter partnered with NMDP to host a blood stem cell registry drive for two days, as part of the SAE’s national True Gentleman Day of Service.

Thousands of fraternity collegians and alumni joined forces across the U.S. to perform service projects that give back to their communities. In Auburn, SAE men helped grow the NMDP Registry, the world’s most diverse blood stem cell donor registry.

Between the two days, the chapter swabbed and added 208 donors to the registry.

NMDP is a global nonprofit leader in cell therapy, and SAE selected NMDP as one of its national philanthropy partners. Since the partnership was founded, SAE students have helped add 33,000 people to the NMDP Registry and approximately 133 of those registry members have gone on to donate to a patient in need of a blood stem cell transplant.
