Families across Alabama will soon have a chance to save on essential baby gear while supporting a more sustainable future as Target brings back its car seat trade-in event this month.
The biannual program runs from April 19 through May 2 and allows customers to bring any used or outgrown car seat to participating stores in exchange for a 20 percent Target Circle bonus toward new baby items. The initiative is now in its 10th year and has become a regular option for parents looking to reduce the cost of raising young children.
Target said the program has diverted more than 58 million pounds of materials from landfills since it launched. The company said those recycled materials have been repurposed into more than 690,000 household products sold under its Brightroom and Room Essentials brands.
This year’s event includes more than the standard discount. To mark the 10th anniversary, participating stores will host in-store events with giveaways and samples of baby essentials on April 25 and 26. Target said the additions are meant to help families explore new products and make informed decisions as their households grow.
The 2026 event also marks the first time the program will include Target’s Baby Concierge and Baby Boutique services in Alabama. The services launched in three locations across the state in March and offer in-person and virtual guidance for parents on everything from registry creation to product selection.
Together, the trade-in program and expanded in-store support reflect Target’s broader effort to make shopping for baby essentials more accessible and affordable. For many families in Alabama, the event offers a practical chance to save money while responsibly disposing of items that are no longer safe to use.
