Jeff Samz, president and CEO of Huntsville Hospital Health System, has been elected chair of the Alabama Hospital Association Board of Trustees.

The election took place during the association’s annual meeting on June 5, 2026.

As chair, Samz will lead the association’s Board of Trustees and work closely with hospital leaders across Alabama to advance policies and initiatives that strengthen health care access, quality and sustainability for communities across the state, according to the association.

“Jeff is an exceptional health care leader whose experience, vision and commitment to providing quality care to communities across north Alabama is remarkable,” said Danne Howard, president and CEO of the Alabama Hospital Association. “One of the greatest strengths of our association is that hospitals across Alabama come together to build consensus around the issues that matter most to our patients and communities and to speak with a united voice on behalf of health care in our state. Jeff recognizes the importance of the association’s shared mission of strengthening health care for all Alabamians, and AlaHA will benefit greatly from his leadership as board chair.”

Samz serves as president and CEO of Huntsville Hospital Health System, one of Alabama’s largest health systems. The system includes 15 hospitals, dozens of ambulatory locations and about 22,000 employees across north Alabama.

Samz is active in civic and professional organizations, including the Business Council of Alabama, the Huntsville/Madison County Chamber of Commerce and the U.S. Space and Rocket Center Education Foundation.

“Alabama’s hospitals may differ in size, geography and the communities they serve, but we share a common commitment to caring for our patients and strengthening the health of our state,” Samz said. “I am honored to serve as chair of the Alabama Hospital Association and look forward to working alongside hospital leaders across Alabama as we continue speaking with one voice to advance health care, support our workforce and ensure access to high-quality care for every community.”
