Huntingdon College has announced six new members of its board of trustees elected to three-year terms.

The trustees, elected during the Huntingdon College Board of Trustees’ May meeting, include political, business and banking leaders in Alabama and Florida. Three of the newly appointed board members are Huntingdon alumni.

The new members of the private, Montgomery-based Methodist college’s board are Charles Carlton, Jakob Dwyer, John Mazyck, Stacia Robinson, Jess Skaggs and Pat Taylor White.

“One of the greatest assets of our college is a strong, dedicated board of trustees who believes in the unique mission of Huntingdon College,” Huntingdon President Anthony Leigh said.

“These new members of the board join me and the other members of the board in working to advance our student-centered culture, expand opportunities for our students, and steward the mission and future of Huntingdon College with vision, faithfulness and care,” Leigh said.

Dwyer, a 2010 Huntingdon graduate who majored in accounting and spent four years on the college’s football team, is CEO of Awayday, a national vacation rental platform.

Skaggs, a 2013 Huntingdon history graduate and former member of the school’s basketball team, serves as chief of staff to Alabama Senate President Pro Tem Garlan Gudger, R-Cullman.

Carlton, an alumnus of Birmingham-Southern College and the University of Alabama School of Law, is a financial adviser with Gambrell Financial Advisors in Birmingham.

Mazyck is a Montgomery investment banker with Frazer Lanier and a graduate of Vanderbilt University and Auburn University. He has previously served as chairman of the Business Council of Alabama and its Montgomery Area Committee.

Robinson, originally from Denver, is chair of the Alabama Office of Civic Engagement, formerly the Office of Minority Affairs. She is a graduate of Spelman College, a retired U.S. Air Force captain and former chair of the Montgomery Chamber of Commerce board.

During the May meeting, Dave Borden and Ken Upchurch were honored with trustee emeritus status.
